Red Stickman: Fighting Stick
If you have ever played any of the number of “Fireboy and Watergirl” games, you are sure to find many similarities within this game which thread through many of its aspects. From music, sound effects to all sorts of mechanics. It is as if you were playing Fireboy with a sword, an intensely up-close and cool Fireboy, mind you.
There are many skins for your character from all sorts of popular shows and media, for which you roll to acquire. What keeps and hooks the player, though, is the significantly quick progression. In no time, all the rollable characters are likely already unlocked, so the focus is switched on acquiring new swords, which do not lack in “cool”.
The level design is straightforward and simple, obstacles consist of enemies which can sometimes be aggressive but rarely pose a threat, there is platforming aplenty with different lever or button based mechanics and tar-pits in which you can fall to your untimely demise.
The movement consists of left, right and up, with the goal of every level being to find the key and with it unlock the portal door to the next level. As you weave your way through levels, there are collectible letters which you collect to form words for new rewards.
The arena arcade mode also requires some attention. Here, you deploy your stickman, in the attire you chose, sword in hand to fight through an infinity of enemies and earn more gold. Once your stickman is defeated, you have an option of leveling him further, so he can continue plowing through more enemies. All in all, the progression might be fast, but it apparently never ends.
